I marvel at the extraordinary ability words have to touch people deep in their hearts. A simple "I believe in you" can inspire someone to try something new, tackle a big project or even make it through the week.
There are 1440 minutes in a day. Why not take a few today to encourage and affirm a special someone or even a stranger? No doubt, your words will inspire a smile.
A few weeks ago I invited my sister Darlene's coworkers, friends, family and neighbors to write a special message to her in Eat Your Peas for the Cure. Darlene and I co-authored the book in 2008 and I wanted to remind her of the messages she so strongly believed in and the many people in her life who have been touched by her spirit and courage.
Nearly one hundred heartfelt personal remarks lined the pages of Eat Your Peas for the Cure and reminded Darlene how much she is loved, respected and admired. “I’ll never forget the time…you are my inspiration…you have impacted my life in indescribable ways…” Many included their phone numbers, confirming they were just a call away. As Darlene began to turn the pages, tears flowed. Words can’t describe how loved and cherished she felt by this outpouring of love.
It seems like we often wait until someone is going through a difficult time before we tell them how much they mean to us. Don’t wait. Life is fragile, even for the strongest among us.
Whether you use a greeting card, gift book, or a plain white sheet of paper your words matter. They have the power to uplift, inspire and celebrate all who read them.
So here’s a little something from me to you: “You are a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. That makes you priceless.” And I know I’m not the only one who thinks so!
Peas-fully, positively,
Cheryl
