Dear friends,

Tattered and marked by water spots, it has been tacked to the wall by my computer wherever I have lived. After all this time, the little handwritten note is barely legible, but the message inspires me as much today as the moment it was handed to me by the president of a company I worked for long ago:

I love your energy. I love your enthusiasm. I love your creativity. I love you! – Nacho

Today, my husband and I were greeted by a smiling, bright-eyed barista at the local coffee shop. “How can I help you? What else can I get for you?” In every way during our visit she made us feel special and important. When I was about her age, a supervisor once told me, “Your future looks as bright as you are.” That’s how I felt about the young lady today. I told her so (I can’t help myself!), and she beamed.

Who knows? Thirty years from today, those words may still resonate encouragement in the barista’s heart, much as Nacho’s words still resonate for me today.
